The Austin Medical Research Foundation (AMRF) has been supporting tomorrow’s medical progress for over 50 years.
Since our humble beginnings, we’ve donated $11.5 million in support of over 960 research projects at Austin Health. This monumental contribution to research and innovation in medical care and treatment has only been possible thanks to the generous donations and bequests we receive.
If you’d like to make a direct donation to the AMRF, we welcome and thank you! You can do so right here. Insert link to donation page
However, for those looking for an alternate way of making a real difference to the world, you may want to consider our bequest program.
With a bequest to AMRF, you have the power to choose to make a substantial difference to ongoing medical research. You can choose how and even when your bequest is allocated.
This way, even after you’re gone, you’ll be leaving a living legacy.
Through our bequest program you can include the AMRF in your will or estate plans. By determining a specific portion of your assets in your will, you can be certain that your contribution will be allocated according to your wishes.
A bequest is an opportunity for you to continue to spread positive change in the world after you have left it.

If you’re unsure how to go about including AMRF in your will, you can contact our team via phone or email for more information. Alternatively, speak with your will and estates legal representative.
Our recommended wording for inclusion in your will is as follows:
“I, (insert name here), of (insert your address here), bequeath to the Austin Medical Research Foundation, Victoria to support medical research at Austin Health, the sum of (insert amount or estate details or other details here), free of all duties.”
Intent and legal designation
Once you’ve determined how much you’d like to donate to the AMRF through your bequest, you will draft your intent in a legally binding will or estate document. For peace of mind, seek professional advice from an attorney when drafting your will.
Document the details
As the donor, you are in control of the nature and extent of the bequest in your will. You can specify the dollar amount to be donated, a percentage of your estate or other specific assets that you intend to be gifted. This all should be included in your necessary legal documentation.
Communicate your decision
It’s important that you inform the AMRF of your bequest so that our team is aware of your plans. This not only ensures that we provide any necessary documentation or information from our side, but also allows us to express our immense gratitude for your generosity and support of ongoing medical research. You may want to communicate your decision to loved ones as well so that they are made aware of your intentions, though this is personal preference.
The will is executed
Upon the passing of a donor, the executor of the estate or the designated trustee will carry out the instructions in the will accordingly and work with the AMRF to transfer your specific bequest in line with your intentions. Every dollar you donate to our Foundation will be directly allocated to a research project to help fund innovative medical advancement.
